The Durham Region Critical Incident Stress Support Team is a voluntary, freestanding organization consisting of your peers and mental health professionals; supported by police, fire, emergency medical services administrations and associations across Durham Region.

HOW WE CAN HELP
How We Assist All First Responders
Education
Provided to new recruits for police, fire and paramedic services or when requested by a service.
Support
At anytime a member from any service may contact the 24-hr number and request to speak with a member of the team.
Defuse
As soon as possible after an event, usually within 48 hrs; structured process; primarily education focused – anyone can request.
Debrief
Usually 3-5 days post event; structured process; deeper exploration of event, with education – anyone can request.
Referral
At any time, when necessary to a mental health professional for assessment – can be requested.
Training
DRCISST has a team of instructors who can provide complete training in ICISF certified courses.
